Syracuse field hockey (10-6, 2-4 Atlantic Coast Conference) fell to No. 12 in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Poll, which was released Tuesday.

On Friday, the Orange lost to Wake Forest in a shootout in their lone game of the week after going to double overtime tied 1-1. Willemijn Boogert scored Syracuse’s only goal in the third quarter.

After dropping two spots, SU is now the fifth-highest ranked program in the ACC, behind No. 2 North Carolina, No. 3 Duke, No. 4 Virginia and No. 10 Louisville. The Orange received 299 points in the poll, seven ahead of No. 13 Boston College.

On Tuesday, No. 5-seed Syracuse opens ACC tournament play against No. 4-seeded Virginia in Charlottesville, Va. Back on Sept. 22, the Orange lost to the Cavaliers 3-2 in double overtime after Adele Iacobucci scored the game-winner on a deflected penalty corner shot.
