Stabbing victim identified as Syracuse University student

The victim of a early Friday morning stabbing was a Syracuse University student, said Kevin Quinn, senior vice president for public affairs at SU.
The victim, a 19-year-old man, had been stabbed multiple times during a fight at a party on the 500 block of Slocum Drive on South Campus. Syracuse Police Department officers responded to the incident at 1:25 a.m. His injuries were non-life threatening.
The identity of the victim is not being released, Quinn said. The university is not in regular academic session, but some South Campus apartments are occupied during the summer by students taking summer classes or those on campus for athletics. Quinn could not confirm whether the victim was an athlete.
The victim was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital by Rural Metro ambulance, said Rural Metro spokeswoman Melissa Fleischmann. Another victim, a 24-year-old male, was also picked up on Slocum Drive and taken to Upstate University Hospital, Fleischmann said. She could not comment on the specifics of the injuries in either case, but SU and police officials have reported only one stabbing incident.
The investigation is ongoing. SU’s Department of Public Safety emailed students an alert regarding the incident Friday afternoon. The suspect, a black male of unknown age about 6-feet-tall, is not believed to be an SU student. He was last seen wearing a white V-neck shirt, shorts and green baseball style hat and is described as having short hair in dreadlocks and a pierced bottom lip, according to the DPS email.
