Insomnia Cookies relocates to Pita El Saha’s former location on Marshall Street

Insomnia Cookies officially opened where Pita El Saha was formerly located Thursday afternoon, said ReneeSarnecky, marketing manager for Insomnia Cookies.

The new location, 137 Marshall St., is only a few storefronts down from Insomnia Cookies’ previous location. Insomnia Cookies moved because the new location is bigger and better able to accommodate crowds, Sarnecky said.

“Basically we just wanted to get a better space to better suit our customers,” she said. “It’s a little larger of a space, so we can offer more seating.”

The new location will have an updated look but will remain true to Insomnia Cookies, Sarnecky said.

“It is going to look like Insomnia Cookies, but it is going to be a new, more modern appearance with more seating,” she said.

The Syracuse University staple announced it would no longer be located at 123 Marshall St. on its Facebook page June 1. The store temporarily operated from a food truck based at the intersection of Marshall Street and South Crouse Avenue.

“I believe it was pretty successful. Being as food trucks are kind of the craze that’s going on right now, we got a lot of traffic from that alone,” Sarnecky said. “When we put the lights up we had seating and music going on, so people really enjoyed that.”

Although the food truck was a success, it will no longer be used at this location. No decision has been made about where and when the truck will be removed, Sarnecky said.
