Syracuse forward Southerland ineligible until further notice

Syracuse forward James Southerland will not play “until further notice” due to an eligibility issue, according to an SU Athletics press release on Saturday.
Southerland is second on the team in scoring with 13.6 points per game. He has come off the bench in all 16 games and leads the team with 33 3-point field goals on the season.
The announcement came before Syracuse’s matchup with Villanova on Saturday at the Carrier Dome. Due to university policy and privacy laws, the release did not include any details on why Southerland is ineligible.
