Rain is in the forecast, so stay indoors this weekend and check out the International Film Festival, Orange After Dark’s late-night trip and a couple of flicks at Destiny USA. To get details on these and more, click on headings or orange text.

International Film Festival

Films and filmmakers from across the world will be descending on Syracuse this weekend for the International Film Festival. Coordinated by a professor in the Visual and Performing Arts School and his wife, the event will include more than 30 movies from a variety of countries. A staple of the festival is their silent movie, for which they commission an original score that is played live during the screening. This year’s silent film is “The Mark of Zorro.” You can catch screenings throughout the city, so check out their website for more details.

Trampoline park

Head to Get Air! Trampoline Park with Orange After Dark this Friday. For $3, students get two hours of free time to spend among the park’s attractions. Try your hand at the obstacle course, tightrope or just see how high you can get on the trampolines. Buses are scheduled to leave Schine Student Center at 10 p.m. and tickets can be bought at the Schine Box Office.

Cherub

Join electro-pop duo Cherub on their “So…You DTF? Tour” at the Westcott Theater on Saturday.  The group’s goal is “to share a little bit of sex, a little bit of drugs, and a whole lot of love with people across the globe,” according to the Westcott Theater’s website. The group is best known for their song “Doses & Mimosas,” but will be debuting new material throughout their tour, according to their website. Tickets are $15 and are available online.

On the big screen

Stay out of the rain this weekend and catch a movie at Destiny USA. Among those being released this weekend are “Crimson Peak,” “Bridge of Spies” and “Room.” “Crimson Peak” is Guillermo del Torro’s latest flick and it’s preview promises to be just as creepy as his usual fare. If you’re looking for a little pre-Halloween scare, this might be the ticket. “Bridge of Spies” is a historical spy-thriller that takes place during one of the most tense moments in the Cold War. Based on a novel with the same name, “Room” follows the story of a woman who is kidnapped, raped and held by her captor in a room on his property for seven years. During that time, she gives birth to a son who eventually helps them escape. Fans of the book should definitely give it a shot, as actress Brie Larson is getting Oscar buzz for her performance, according to CBS News.
