Having played each other every year since separating conferences, Syracuse and St. John’s will play in the Carrier Dome on Dec. 21 according to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports.
The former Big East rivals have made an effort to keep the in-state rivalry alive, and last season the Red Storm squashed the Orange, 84-72, at Madison Square Garden. St. John’s has won the last two matchups against Syracuse, but SU leads the long-running series 51-39.
Next season’s nonconference calendar is steadily filling up, with news that the Orange will play Connecticut in The Garden on Dec. 5, and Georgetown at home on Dec. 17. Here’s a look at what else is to come for SU outside the Atlantic Coast Conference in 2016-17.
Nov. 15: vs. Holy Cross
Nov. 18: vs. South Carolina State
Nov. 26: South Carolina (at Barclays Center)
Dec. 5: UConn (at Madison Square Garden)
Dec. 17: vs. Georgetown
Dec. 21: vs. St. John’s
Conference games have yet to be scheduled, but Syracuse will face Boston College, Pittsburgh, Georgia Tech and Louisville at home and on the road. The Carrier Dome will also host games against Florida State, Miami, Duke, Wake Forest and Virginia. SU will travel on the road to play one game against Clemson, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Virginia Tech and Notre Dame.
