Devin Shewell to transfer from Syracuse

Syracuse sophomore attack Devin Shewell is no longer with the program and will transfer, SU head coach John Desko said on Thursday afternoon.
Currently, there is no destination, Desko said.
The Lutherville, Maryland native appeared in just one game this season, against Siena in the season opener, and he recorded one assist, two ground balls and one turnover. The coveted Boys Latin (Maryland) High School recruit began last season as Syracuse’s fourth attack but since dropped down in the rotation, replaced by fellow sophomore Nate Solomon.
In 2016, Shewell played in 10 games, totaled seven goals, four ground balls and a caused turnover.
At Boys Latin, where he tallied more than 100 points, Shewell verbally committed to Johns Hopkins as a sophomore. Then, after junior year when he won a national championship, he flipped to the Orange.
“At Syracuse, the coaching staff seems way different than any other staff I’ve come across,” Shewell told RecruitingRundown.com in 2014. “… When I was on my visit there, it was a really cool on-field atmosphere with kids throwing (behind the backs) and the coaches just letting them play. I really liked that.”
