Syracuse women’s lacrosse was ranked No. 6 in the Inside Lacrosse Week 1 Poll released Monday. The Orange remain in the same spot following a 21-9 thrashing of UAlbany in their season opener.

Against the Great Danes, a new-look roster paired with the deadly duo of veterans Emma Ward and Olivia Adamson to create a potent attack. Six players who didn’t record a point for the Orange in 2024 tallied at least one point. SU’s freshmen trio of Mileena Cotter, Molly Guzik and Caroline Trinkaus combined for nine points, including a hat trick from Cotter.

Ward and Adamson totaled 11 points, with Adamson’s six leading the charge. Twelve total point scorers contributed to a rapid style of play, resulting in the 12-goal victory. Syracuse’s replenished defense also held strong, not allowing a goal for over 22 minutes across the second and third quarters.

Up next for the Orange is a top-10 matchup with No. 7 Maryland in College Park. The Terrapins’ bout with Syracuse will be their 2025 season opener.
